A high quality index will enhance your non-fiction book and help it sell. Doesn’t your book deserve the best?
I am a proficient, experienced book indexer with a substantial portfolio of projects.

I have indexed books in diverse subject areas and and for readers of all ages and levels: from books for young children to multi-authored academic texts. Find out about my main subject specialisms, and see the books I have worked on here.

I have a physics degree (Oxford University) and am interested in astronomy, cosmology, and artificial intelligence. I have indexed many science and maths books, including those with a philosophical/ethical slant, and books on the history of a particular scientific field. I am skilled at making complex ideas accessible to the interested non-specialist.

I have a Certificate in Environmental Conservation (Sheffield University) and over the years have worked and volunteered with several local wildlife organisations. I currently undertake river monitoring and conservation work in my local patch. I would love to take on more nature writing indexing work.

I have indexed several books for younger readers, from the very young to teenagers. My indexes for younger readers are simple to navigate without being patronising, and where appropriate, incorporate a playful style.

I have conducted and published literature reviews and qualitative research in collaboration with nursing and allied health professionals, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health workers. I have indexed many books in all these areas, from self-help books to textbooks for practitioners.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with experience of experience teaching university students (including individual doctoral supervision, small group seminars, classes of 30 and lectures of 100+). I am a training course tutor with the Society of Indexers. I have indexed several books on teaching, mostly school teaching, including those on neuroscience approaches to teaching and learning.

I have an MSc in Information Management (Sheffield University) and have experienced a variety of organizational cultures and leadership styles. I have indexed several books on management, leadership, and organizations, from the theoretical to the ‘how-to’ handbook.

I can read music and have a piano Diploma (London College of Music). My listening habits are as varied as the music books I have indexed, which range from the Romantic composers to the New Romantics, and school music teaching to music technology. I have indexed several books that combine personal and musical stories.

I have indexed several biographies/autobiographies and a collection of letters. I have also indexed several books telling the stories of organisations, multiple people, or where individual life stories are interwoven through other subjects that I specialise in. I aim to create index entries to intrigue and draw the reader in, as well as inform.

Inevitably I have indexed many books in entirely different fields, sent my way by editors and project managers I regularly work with. These include titles about TV and film, photography, research methods, and modern history. If your book falls into this ‘other’ category, it is always worth a punt - I might just be a good fit for it.
